I’ve loved dolls ever since I was young, and they were among the first things I ever made with
my mom and grandma when they were teaching me how to sew as a little girl. We used scrap upholstery fabric for the outfits and dry lentils to make them nice and weighted, and I’d watch as my mother stitched little faces into the material, bestowing each one with a personality. A lot of the techniques have remained the same up to this iteration, but the design has matured into this folksy, intricate, posable clown doll that I couldn’t be more enamored with.

The finished doll is 22" tall, including his hat.

PDF Pattern printing instructions:
Select the pattern files that correspond to your paper size, and print them out on any home printer at 100% scale. Verify that it printed correctly by measuring the 2”x2” test square. Tape the sheets of paper together using the registration marks to align them properly. See the diagram on each instruction booklet to figure out which pages connect to which. Cut out all the pattern pieces. Please note that there is only one paper size available for the doll outfit pattern because it will print effectively on both A4 and US Letter sized paper.

You will need 1/2 yard of fabric for the base doll, a 6"x12" sheet of craft felt, two 1/4 yard pieces of complimentary fabric for the outfit, as well as the following notions: a 50 oz bag of polyfill or comparable doll stuffing, 1 yard of 1/4" elastic, three 1/2"-5/8"  buttons or pom-poms, a scrap of corrugated cardboard at least 8"x8", 1 cup of poly-pellets or dried lentils, and an old pair of pantyhose for the weighted bean bags.
