This rag doll pattern makes exactly the type of doll I always wanted as a kid (and, let's be honest, also as an adult); it's weighted, substantial, and just the right combination of articulated and a little floppy. It's the perfect blank template for your creative doll-making!

The finished doll is 22" tall, including his hat.

Pattern printing instructions:
Print the file on any home printer at 100% scale, and verify that it printed correctly by measuring the 2”x2” test square. Tape the sheets of paper together using the registration marks to align them properly. See the diagram on the next page to figure out which pages connect to which. Cut out all the pattern pieces.

Tools and Supplies:
-½ yard of fabric (I used linen canvas because it was what I had, and it worked fine, but a soft fleece might be nice. If you choose a woven fabric, try to find something with a tight weave)
One 8” x 12” sheet of craft felt in a complimentary or matching color to your fabric
-Polyfill or cotton batting
-One small bag of poly pellets. You can also use dry lentils!
-A small pom-pom for the nose
-One wooden clothespin (the traditional kind, without the hinge)
-One pair of stockings, tights, or pantyhose in any color. These don’t have to be new.
-Cardboard–not very much, a small cardboard box or the backing to an old notepad should be plenty
-Sewing machine
-Iron
-Pins
-One spool of all-purpose polyester thread that matches your fabric
-Your preferred tool for marking fabric—tailor’s chalk, heat-erasable pen, pencil, tailor’s tacks, white gel pen, etc.
-Hand needle
-Fabric scissors
-Forceps (optional, but they’re what I use for stuffing small areas)
-A chopstick to help with stuffing (sometimes they include one with the polyfill)
-A clear ruler or seam gauge
