This jingle hat would be perfect as a winter-y elf costume, a festive Christmas hat, or just a warm addition to a silly, clowncore wardrobe. With only two pattern pieces, this hat comes together very quickly, and it makes for a fun, easy project for beginners and experts alike. It might even be a good first project for those who are just learning to sew. This pattern comes in one adult size that will fit any head that is 21"-24" in circumference.

Pattern Printing Instructions:
Print the file on any home printer at 100% scale, and verify that it printed correctly by measuring the 2”x2” test square. Make sure you choose the PDF that corresponds with the paper size you’ll be using. Tape the sheets of paper together using the registration marks to align them properly. Once the pattern is assembled, cut out both pattern pieces.

Tools and Supplies:
-You’ll need a total of three different colored fashion fabrics, ideally. The crown band can also be made using one of the hat fabrics, but I find that it looks best when it’s in a contrasting color. For the hat fabrics, you’ll need a 24” x 15” rectangle in each, and for the crown fabric, you’ll need one 12” x 24” rectangle. For tall three fabrics, I recommend fleece for warmth and a comfortable fit. Cotton flannel, terrycloth, corduroy, chenille, or a medium-weight brocade would also work.
-Sewing machine and a spool of coordinating polyester all-purpose thread
-A jersey/ballpoint sewing machine needle for stretch fabrics (if you’re using fleece)
-Iron and ironing board
-Your preferred tool for marking fabric—tailor’s chalk, heat-erasable pen, pencil, tailor’s tacks, white gel pen, etc.
-A chopstick
-A hand needle
-Pins
-Fabric scissors
-Pom-poms or sew-on jingle bells for the tips of the hat (optional…but are they really?)
